FE COLLEGES

Further education (FE) in the UK includes any study after secondary education that is constituent part of the UK education system. Normally, courses range from RQF Level 3 (A-Level, Extended Diploma and International Baccalaureate) to Level 5 (Foundation Degree and HND). A few outstanding FE colleges have established their own university centre and partnership with local university to delivery RQF Level 6 degree courses. The partnership between university and local FE college is a unique education scheme with the main purpose to provide equal education opportunities and achieve joint academic success of the local community. Students study at a FE College will obtain a Bachelor's degree (Hons) awarded by the partner university. It has been accepted world-wide as a wise alternative pathway to a UK university degree.

True British education experience

The main purpose of FE colleges is to provide equal education opportunities for the local community. Therefore it is not the priority for FE colleges to expand the proportion of international students as they prefer focusing on enhancing local students' welfare and employability. For most of the FE colleges, the proportion of domestic students is over 95% which is the highest among all sorts of educational institutions in the UK (universities and independent schools). For international students, studying at a FE college is considered a better way to experience the British education and culture, to truly blend in the local society.

Competitive tuition fee

The tuition fee at FE Colleges is very competitive, usually around £8,000 per year, which is less than a half of the university tuition fee. Three years of undergraduate study, that could save up to £30,000 of the tuition fee in total. For the pre-university courses such as A-Level, the tuition fee is only 1/3 of any independent schools in the UK. Three years of A-Level study, that could save up to £32,000 of the tuition fee in total.
